Blackfoot-Clearwater Stewardship Project

4/15/2016

For the last decade, Montanans have been working together, shoulder to shoulder, to develop local solutions to land management challenges in the Blackfoot and Clearwater Valleys. In 2006, the Blackfoot Challenge convened a diverse group of stakeholders including timber industry representatives, snowmobilers, outfitters and guides, and conservationists to cultivate a Montana- made plan for the Seeley Lake Ranger District of the Lolo National Forest. The result of their collective efforts is the Blackfoot Clearwater Stewardship Project (BCSP). The BCSP is a legislative proposal for the National Forest lands around Seeley Lake and Ovando areas, which would provide thoughtful landscape-style planning to create certainty for the timber industry, create opportunities to increase recreational use, and to secure conservation protections. With support and endorsement from all three impacted counties, the Blackfoot Clearwater Stewardship Project asks Montana’s Congressional delegation to work together to pass legislation that benefits our communities, our values, and our outdoor traditions.
