Executive Committee - 2019
Rev. Dr. Marc Ian Stewart, President
Marc and his spouse, Cheryl, own a home in Billings Montana, where Marc has served as Conference Minister since 2012. They have 3 adult children dispersed between New York City, Los Angeles, and Billings. Originally from the UK, Marc was 5-years old when the family moved to the USA so his father, Ian, could attend Bangor Theological Seminary and later minister in Gray, ME, with the Boston Seaman's Friend Society, Banstead UK, and Lakeville MA. Marc and Cheryl met at Andover Newton Theological School, during which time they also spent a semester at Bangalore Theological Seminary in India. Following his ordination in 1984, Marc and Cheryl were co-ministers at Hope UCC in Alexandria VA. As their children were born and during their younger years, Marc served at First Church in Belfast, ME, and at First (Park) UCC in Grand Rapids, MI. During the past 20 years, Marc has primarily served in small conference ministry settings within the South Dakota and Montana-N.Wyoming Conferences UCC. Marc's ministry accents non-anxious accompaniment and collaboration amidst institutional change. |
Kendra Wilde, Past President
Kendra is Pastor at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Helena, and Mom to two amazing children; a wife, daughter and friend AND an advocate. Her identity as an advocate took some time to embrace. For a while she wondered why Christians should engage in advocacy. Why do we need to get the government involved? Can’t we just deal with the problems through charity and faith-based efforts? Her faith tells her that God cares about the world, especially vulnerable people. She was once asked to write a letter to my representative to support WIC (Women Infants Children), a nutrition supplementation and medical screening program for mothers and children through the age of 5. Having always been passionate about hunger issues, she did and then followed up with a phone call a week later. Her representative had committed to support WIC funding. When she looked at the number of people that would impact in Lewis and Clark county, Kendra realized what a far-reaching impact she could make with a simple letter and phone call. |
Jan Martin, Treasurer
Jan is a member of Our Redeemer's Lutheran in Helena and is currently serving that congregation as Council Treasurer, a member of the Hunger and Family Promise Teams. She is also a member of the Family Promise of Greater Helena Board of Directors. She is a Lay Pastoral Associate in the Montana Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. She has lived in Helena since 1981 and has two sons and four grandchildren. She is recently retired from Valley Bank of Helena. |
Candida Quinn, Secretary
Candida is a semi-retired lawyer and part-time seminary student at the Earlham School of Religion. A Helena resident since 2000, ecumenical work with MAC has helped her to become more involved in the greater Montana community. She sees MAC’s advocacy as good way to live her Quaker faith, witnessing to that of God in everyone.
