Our Position on Critical Social Issues

We come together to advocate for justice and healing in Montana’s broken places. We mutually rely on one another for support. We empower communities and individuals with the ability to transform our society and environment.

Below you will find information regarding our position on specific issues that are based upon MAC's values of
FAITH, UNITY, JUSTICE, & COMPASSION.

ABOLITION OF DEATH PENALTY

HUMANE INCARCERATION

MAC opposes capital punishment and calls upon the Montana Legislature to abolish the death penalty.

SUPPORTING CHILDREN
AND STRENGTHENING FAMILIES


MAC calls upon the State Legislature to uphold and support the rights of children [and youth] to develop physically, mentally, spiritually, and socially, according to their special needs and capabilities, in healthy family and community circumstances.

HUMAN RIGHTS

MAC supports Laws in society that:
  • recognize all persons are created with essential rights;
  • promote the opportunity for every person to be treated justly; and,
  • promote whatever upholds human dignity.
MAC supports a strong, independent and fully-funded State Human Rights Commission empowered to:
  • provide an on-going assessment of the people's realization of human rights
  • identify contemporary manifestations of injustice or denial of these rights
  • implement programs, policies and statures that address injustice, harassment or denial of rights in overt, clandestine or insidious policies or practices.
